The Environmental element of Land and Environmental Services strives to maintain and improve general standards of public health, food safety, occupational health and safety, public safety and consumer protection within Glasgow by enforcing legislation and providing environmental services.
We have a duty to the general public and the business community to keep the streets clean, to collect and dispose of refuse by environmentally friendly means, to visit, inspect and report on shops, restaurants, hotels, offices and other workplaces in the service industries to ensure that they comply with all hygiene and safety laws, to monitor air quality and contaminated land and to maintain a high standard of public health, fair trading and consumer product safety by carrying out inspection programmes.
