Making a Complaint
We will always try to resolve your complaint at the first point of contact.
In all cases your complaint will be acknowledged within 5 working days, investigated by the department and a full response provided in a further 10 working days (15 working days in total), unless another timescale has been agreed.
If you remain unhappy, you have the right to have the complaint considered by a senior officer of the service involved.
If you are still unhappy with the response of the service, the office of the Chief Executive can then consider your complaint.
If you are still unhappy about the outcome of your complaint, you have the right to have the matter considered by the Scottish Public Service Ombudsman who can be contacted at: SPSO, Freepost EH641, Edinburgh EH3 0BR, Phone 0800 377 7330, fax 0800 377 7331, text 0790 049 4372, e-mail ask@spso.org.uk, website www.spso.org.uk. You usually need to do this within 12 months of first knowing about the problem about which you are complaining.

What do Financial Services provide?
Financial Services has a key role in supporting the Council’s corporate objectives through a diverse range of services.

Revenues and Benefits 0141 287 7650
The Revenues and Benefits service is responsible for the accurate billing and collection of Council Tax and Business Rates, and also administers Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit through 8 local Benefits Centres and 3 City Centre outlets.
Assessors and Electoral Registration 0141 287 7518
The Assessor compiles and publishes the Valuation List containing addresses and Council Tax banding of domestic properties and the Valuation Roll containing addresses and rateable values of non domestic properties. Electoral Registration prepares and maintains the Register of Electors (the list of persons entitled to vote) and maintains list of absent voters.

This service is responsible for the compilation and management control of the Council’s overall revenue and capital budgets, the preparation of the annual accounts, all treasury management activity and the provision of financial advice and guidance to officers and members of the Council.

The Exchequer division administers payment of creditors, fund management and maintains insurance cover and claims handling for the assets and activities of the Council.

Glasgow City Council is the administering authority for the Strathclyde Pension Fund. The Pension Fund Office administers the Local Government Pension Scheme for all of the 12 local authorities within the old Strathclyde area plus a number of other outside organisations.
