Information about Criminal Justice Teams

Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice Teams are working within the National Objectives and Standards Framework and a "What Works" agenda to deliver their services which will meet the requirements set.

Criminal Justice Teams are locally based and are enhanced by teams working within specialist areas such as prison throughcare, sex offenders, and mental health.

There are specific aims in terms of new policies such as the Youth Crime Review which is to target specific offending.

Criminal Justice Teams also work across areas of addiction services, working with mentally disordered offenders and offenders who are assessed as being at high risk of re-offending. Due to the level of importance placed on this work there is opportunity for staff to have training on psychosymetric assessments, and other specific courses. Workers are also committed to supporting victims of crime too. Due to the importance of public safety and risk management there is a high level of strategic commitment across the agencies, with investment in rehabilitation, education and training.

Comprehensive training plans and development packages are available.

Working with the criminal justice specialisms will be a challenging opportunity for Social Workers interested in joining Glasgow City Council.
