Special Presentation

On the evening of the prizegiving, Janet Roscoe (pictured below with Johann Lamont) was presented with a special award for helping to promote the competition. Bailie Alan Stewart said  "It is very appropriate to end the award ceremony with Janet as she is a shining example of the way that using modern technologies can help to enhance all our lives.

Janet Roscoe had a troubled family background which resulted in a poor education. When a heart attack meant she had to retire early from her job as a taxi driver, she started using technology to occupy her time and since then she has had 3 anthologies of poetry published and is in the process of writing her life story which she hopes also to have published.

We intend to publish more of the  individual stories submitted for the awards in the near future. Some of the other great entries also described how technology is being deployed to make a worthwhile impact on the lives of Glaswegians.
