Glasgow City Council and its partners have won a coveted Government Computing BT Award for Innovation for the Greater Glasgow Independent Living Equipment Service (GGILES) at an awards ceremony held in London on 27th April 2006.
GGILES came out top in the category of “best
project in delivering efficiency” and impressed the judges
“for the way it is fulfilling a clear vision in rationalising stock-keeping and promoting the cause of recycling in
the provision of equipment.”
Bringing together health and social services to manage the provision of vital equipment to help elderly and disabled people to live at home GGILES is a model for shared services delivered on behalf of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Glasgow City Council and East Dunbartonshire Council.
Councillor Aileen Colleran said "GGILES is an excellent example of work the Council and its partners are doing in improving efficiency in operations, at the same time as delivering an improved service for the citizens not just of Glasgow but the wider metropolitan area".
