The e-City Network, established in 2001, was the partnership behind a rolling 3-year research programme which aimed to enhance the e-readiness of Scotland’s six cities. The primary product to emerge from this collaboration was the e-City index which as well as allowing the Cities involved to understand how well technology is being used, can also be used as a strategic planning and learning tool for further development
- URBACT Information Society Network (ISN)
Glasgow City Council joined the URBACT Information Society Network (ISN) in December 2004. The network consisted of 14 partner Cities, the lead partner of which was Manchester City Council.
The key aim of the ISN was to exchange transnational experience of good practice, knowledge and expertise on innovative uses of information and communication technologies in tackling social exclusion and promoting cohesion.
The networks final report entitled “citizen, content, connect-Inclusion through Technology” features a number of Access Glasgow projects. As well as this publicity, involvement in this network provided a number of other benefits and experiences
for the Council.
- EUROCITIES Knowledge Society Forum-TeleCities
EUROCITIES Knowledge Society Forum - TeleCities is a major European network of Cities committed to leadership in the information and knowledge based society. It provides a forum for over 100 Local Authorities
including Glasgow to share experience across 20 different European countries and to develop practical solutions to achieve an inclusive information society. Its fundamental aim is to promote e-Government and e-Citizenship at a local level to ensure that all Citizens can gain equally from the benefits of the information society.
Glasgow hosted the EUROCITIES Knowledge Society Forum-TeleCities summer conference the theme of which was "Knowledge Society - Social Renewal in Action".
