e-Government in Glasgow

Digital City Banner

For Glasgow City Council, e-Government is first and foremost about changing the way government works, rather than simply being about technology. We also believe we have a responsibility to assist in bringing the advantages of the Knowledge Economy to the citizens of Glasgow.

Council's commitment to e-Government success

  • Bailie Alan Stewart was appointed as Spokesperson on ICT to the Council following the May 2003 elections
  • The appointment of Elma Murray as Head of e-Government and Development in 2003 demonstrates the importance placed by Glasgow City Council on using technology to enable improved services
  • The e-government programme is coordinated by the e-government programme board which meets quarterly to ensure its effective operation
  • Glasgow City Council signs eRights Charter for Citizens and agree to promote the creation and delivery of services to meet its 4 goals
