Street Lighting

White Street Lighting

Glasgow's aspiration is to introduce white street lighting throughout the city through its Lighting Network Renewal programme. The programme benefits all residents, businesses and visitors to the city and is considered to be crucial in terms of Community Safety and the creation of an inclusive environment.

White lighting has been introduced on many of the city's main arterial roads and is being introduced to the lanes in the city centre as part of the pdf icon City Centre Action Plan [2Mb]. The programme is led by Land and Environmental Services and has a separate budget. Additionally all new developments are now required to incorporate white street lighting to the standard specified by the Council.
