If you feel you are struggling with bills, including Council Tax, help is available. You could be eligible for a reduction in your charges - or you might just need a bit of time to get back on top of your payments.
So, if you receive a reminder over the coming weeks, please read the information below and don't avoid getting in touch.
The Council would normally issue a reminder letter within 7 days if payment has not been received in line with your most recently issued bill. If you have not agreed alternate arrangements with us to pay your Council Tax and/or have not made a payment you may now receive a reminder in respect of overdue instalments.
To make a payment you will need to know your reference number. It will be a number that starts with an 8, this can be found on your reminder, bill or letter from us about council tax. You can also find details about payment instalments on your bill, or alternatively log in to our Self Service Portal for more information.
You can make a one off payment using our payment facility.
You can choose to make Direct Debit payments on either the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd or 28th of each month, or every two or every four weeks.

If you are currently on a low income, you may be entitled to Council Tax reduction and can find out more information and apply for this online. Certain discounts and exemptions may be available for a limited time if the property or occupiers meet certain categories. If you wish to notify us of a change of address please visit our self-service page. Please note that payment must not be withheld pending the outcome of an application or change.
You can choose to reprofile your bill by setting up a Direct Debit over the remainder of the financial year. To do this please click on our online Direct Debit application and select an option from the "Select your preferred payment date" dropdown in Step 2 that says 12 instalments in brackets.
Alternatively, for non Direct Debit payers, payment arrangements may be agreed where the balance can be cleared by the end of the current financial year. Please contact us via our online enquiry form and select "I have received a reminder notice" from the dropdown. A limited appointment based service is also available where you can arrange for a call regarding a an arrangement through our Council Tax Callback application. We are currently unable to offer face to face appointments or inbound telephony but a member of the team will be in touch with you to discuss your account when your enquiry is received.
If you are not able to bring your instalments up to date within the requested time or make a payment arrangement the Council will obtain a Summary Warrant that includes a 10% penalty for non-payment and your account will be passed to our Debt Management Partners for collection. Our Debt Management Partners will discuss repayment of your arrears in line with your financial circumstances.
