Glasgow City Council has introduced a Byres Road Public Realm Grant scheme, whereby local businesses and members of the local community are invited to bring forward to the Local Authority any potential improvement projects which aim at improving the public spaces within the streets.
All projects put forward through such scheme must, in some way, improve Byres Road and contribute to make it a more attractive place to live in/visit for local residents and visitors alike.
Grant awards from joint businesses and/or community groups in the area will be considered. Grants will not be awarded to individual businesses nor to projects that have already been started or those of a commercial nature (i.e. shop front improvements).
Local businesses and residents affected by the proposals should be consulted and agreement should be sought from them prior to any proposals being put forward to the local Authority.
Please Note: The Public Realm Grants scheme is a one-off initiative for projects to be implemented by 2015.
Applications to support on-going maintenance costs will not be accepted. Where projects generate any maintenance costs, it will be necessary for the applicant to evidence how they will be met, and by whom, before any grant request will be processed for consideration.
Applicants are advised to discuss their proposed scheme with Development and Regeneration Services. Your applications should provide as much detail as possible about the project(s) you wish to carry out, including copies of quotations.
