Can I make a Claim against Glasgow City Council?

You can make a claim against Glasgow City Council ("the council") for any damage the council may be liable for in respect of:

  • Vehicle Damage (this includes damage to your vehicle due to potholes)
  • Property Damage/Loss
  • Personal Injury

If you make a claim against the council, the outcome will be decided based on whether you can evidence that the council has acted negligently or has failed to carry out its statutory duties correctly.  This is known as 'legal liability'.

How do I make a Claim?

The quickest and easiest way to make a claim is to use our online form.  Please note: You will need to ensure you have all relevant information to hand when you make a claim as there is no option to save the claim and submit later.

  • Exact location of incident
  • Details of the incident including details of the defect/what happened
  • Details of any injuries received or damage to a property/vehicle
  • Details of any visits to your GP or local NHS hospital in relation to any injuries you may have received

The online form includes guidance and further details of what you need to provide. This information should be read before completing your claim.

You can upload documents in support of your application such as photographs of any damage, photographs of the location of the incident, scans or photographs of receipts for work carried out.

There is a 50MB size limit on all files and you can attach a maximum of 5 documents.

Please ensure that the documents you attach are complete and easy to read. If documents are incomplete or are difficult to read this may delay your application.
