Plan a route
Depending on your cycling experience and whether you have cycle routes near you will influence how you get from a to b. It doesn't matter if you are cycling to work or just out riding your bike for fun, a route planner is an invaluable tool and suggested cycle routes can be just what you need to give you an incentive to get out and ride. There are a few available and many provide options to avoid hills avoid traffic, or just how to get there at the pace you want to cycle. They usually provide you with carbon savings in comparison to the same journey by car. You can also access them by phone and use GPS navigation, or download your route into another device.
Other route planner applications include Journeyshare which allows you to find someone to cycle with who is making the same journey. This is particularly good if you are new to cycling or just prefer to cycle in company.
