Community Rallies for Keppoch Campus Clean Up

Dedicated volunteers have joined forces to clean up the grounds of Keppoch Campus in Possilpark.

Sixteen people took part in the litter pick with assistance from Glasgow City Council's Environmental Task Force and the Children's Inclusion Partnership.
 
The clean-up at the Stonyhurst Street educational campus saw volunteers and Task Force staff collecting litter from the surrounding area as part of efforts to brighten up the walk to school for pupils and their families. The waste was separated into different bags, with items recycled where possible.

Councillor Frank McAveety, leader of Glasgow City Council and Chair of the Environmental Task Force, thanked the volunteers for their commitment to their community.

He said: "It is great to see parents and the wider community getting involved around the Keppoch Campus. Well done to everyone who took part in this event and all those across the city who are supporting the work of the Environmental Task Force and taking pride in their neighbourhoods."
 
Ryan Noble of the Environmental Task Force said: "We had a great turn-out at Possilpark. Everyone was really enthusiastic and people wanted to make a difference.
 
"There's a lot of satisfaction that comes from wanting to make the city a cleaner, safer place.
 
"It is about more than just cleaning, it's about civic pride and taking ownership. If people do that, it makes a massive difference to the local area."
 
Volunteer Barbara Witkowski has lived in Possilpark for nine years and regularly takes part in litter picks.
 
She said: "We care about the environment so taking part in events like this is really important. It's great to look back after we have finished and look at the clean school grounds.
 
"The litter picks offer a chance to meet new people, helping those who may have just moved here feel welcome in their neighbourhood. Spending a few hours out in the fresh air is also a relaxing experience."
