Glasgow Hate Crime Week Art Competition 2019

The first ever Glasgow Hate Crime Art Competition will be take place in October 2019 and we are delighted to announce details of the format and awards that are up for grabs in this brand new competition.

Glasgow Hate Crime Awareness Week Art Competition aims to encourage collaboration and creativity that promotes an anti-discriminatory ethos in school communities.

Who Can Enter

This Art Competition is open to all Primary Schools and Secondary Schools in Glasgow.

The Brief

Young people are encouraged to submit entries representing what "Hate Crime" means to them, in an artistic format, using creative media of their choice.  Competition judges will be looking for entries that display thought and concern for promoting cohesive communities and challenge hostility based on race, religion, disability, sexual orientation and transgender identity.

Awards

There are two categories of awards in the competition:

(1) Primary School Award

(1) Secondary School Award

There will be a £250 prize for the winning entry in each category.

Judging

This Glasgow Schools competition will be judged by an official panel of key people who are involved in various ways to challenge Hate Crime and to promote the reporting of all Hate Crimes.

Key competition Dates:

- 19th August competition opens

- 26th September competition closes

- Winners selected Tuesday 1st October

- Winners announced W/C 7th October

A selection of the entries will be displayed in an exhibition at Glasgow City Chambers throughout Hate Crime Awareness Week which is 7 - 13 October
