Gorbals Street: Norfolk Street to Clyde Street [and Gorbals St bus gate]

UPDATE (SEPTEMBER 2021):

Following an independent review in September 2021 which considered whether long-term sustainability and active travel benefits could be realised by retaining measures - all Spaces for People cycle lanes, including the one noted below will become permanent.

Measure(s):

The installation of a temporary soft segregated northbound cycle lane between Norfolk Street and Clyde Street.

Early implementation of the permanent bus gate associated with the Gorbals Street phase of the South City Way works (as per advertised TRO).

Detail:

The cycle lane shall be provided by means of removing the nearside northbound lane between Norfolk Street and Clyde Street from general traffic use and dedicating this to active travel.

The northbound bus gate shall be located on Gorbals Street at the junction with Cumberland Street and shall operate 0700-1900hrs, daily. The existing southbound bus lane between Cleland St and Cumberland Street shall be removed and general traffic will be permitted to use this lane. The bus gate shall come into operation on Sunday 19th July.
