Coronavirus (COVID-19) Advice & Guidance for Schools: August 2021 - June 2022

As we enter the next phases of the Scottish Government's road map out of lock down in response to the coronavirus global pandemic we will post current information here on the recovery, resilience and reconnection framework for our schools and learning.

Update on COVID-19 from Jason Leitch, National Clinical Director to parents and carers - Monday 21 March 2022

Jason Leitch, National Clinical Director has written to all schools and nurseries with an update for families on COVID-19 timescales and future plans for testing and mitigations.

COVID-19 school rules to be eased - Thursday 10 February 2022

The Scottish Government has updated it's school advice and guidance on covid mitigations and from 28 February, pupils and staff will no longer be required to wear masks in classrooms but will still need masks on corridors and communal areas.  Restrictions relating to assemblies and transitions for P1 and S1 visits will also be eased from Monday 28 February.

Changes to guidance on reducing the risk of Covid in schools announced - Tuesday 1 February 2022

The First minister has announced a relaxation of covid mitigations in schools - including approaches to minimising contacts, easing restrictions on school visitors, easing on school visits and trips and the requirement for staggered timetables.

SQA Exams on track - Scottish Government update on this year's National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher exams - Tuesday 1 February 2022

The Scottish Government has today said that this year's SQA exams are on track and published details of the additional support - Scenario 2 contingency - to help aid revision for young people in preparation for their exams this year in light of the on-going pandemic disruption.

Updated testing and self-isolation changes announced by Scottish Government on Wednesday 5 January - Thursday 6 January 2022

New guidance on PCR and lateral flow testing and changes to self-isolation rules have been announced by the Scottish Government and will come into play for new cases from today, Thursday 6 January.

Free School Meals Winter Holiday Payment update - Monday 29 November 2021

Maureen McKenna, Executive Director of Education has written to financially eligible families today to let them know about the additional Winter Holiday payment as part of the Scottish Government's ongoing pandemic support payments for families in need.

Updated Scottish Government School guidance to help reduce the spread - Thursday 16 September 2021

The Scottish Government has issued updated guidance to schools to help reduce the risk of the spread of the virus and can be read in full here.

GGC NHS Public Health letters - updated information for nurseries and schools - Sunday 22 August 2021

Our schools and nurseries are following the Scottish Government's updated advice on self-isolation which came into force on Monday 9 August when the country moved to beyond Level 0.  Families were issued with copies of the letter for information along with a letter from the Director of Education at the start of the new school term.

These letters have now been translated into the following languages:

Back to school arrangements - Parent and Carers' letters from Maureen McKenna, Executive Director of Education - Tuesday 10 August 2021

Following the Scottish Government's update on the country's move to Beyond Level 0 from Monday 9 August, information has been sent out to all nursery, primary and secondary families about arrangements that will be in place from the start of the new term on Monday 16 August 2021.

This includes a letter from NHS Public Health colleagues with details on the new self-isolation rules.
