Glasgow City Council

Risk Management

What is it?

Risk management within the council seeks to identify, assess and manage risks, to both minimise the threats presented by risk, and to allow the council to take opportunities. Risk management extends to include business continuity management and planning in conjunction with the council's Emergencies Planning Unit.

The council has an established Corporate Risk Management Section to monitor, review and report on the council's risk management framework. There is a Corporate Risk Working Group and an Operational Risk Management Forum which meet regularly to discuss and implement risk management initiatives at strategic and operational levels.
