Air Quality Monitoring Stations in Glasgow

We operate air quality monitoring stations at various locations throughout the city. These measures a variety of parameters including NO2, PM10. SO2, Ozone and hydrocarbons. These are compared with the national air quality objectives.

Glasgow Background

Air Quality Monitoring Station was established as a site to measures background air quality in a rural environment. It is located just outside the boundary of the city at Waulkmillglen reservoir. It measures nitrogen oxides, particulates, ozone and sulphur dioxide.

Glasgow Anderston

Glasgow Anderston is located in the grounds of St Patrick's Primary School at Charing Cross. It measures nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, particulates and sulphur dioxide.

Glasgow Broomhill

Glasgow Broomhill is located at the junction of Clarence Drive and Crow Road at Broomhill Cross.

It measures particulates.

Glasgow Byres Road

Glasgow Byres Road is located at the junction of University Avenue and Byres Road in the West End of the city. The unit has been monitoring NO2 and PM10s primarily since 2003.

Glasgow Dumbarton Road

Glasgow Dumbarton Road is located on Dumbarton Road in the Thornwood area.

It measures particulates and nitrogen dioxide.

Glasgow Great Western Road

Glasgow Great Western Road is located at the east end of Great Western Road near to St George's Cross.

It measures nitrogen dioxide.

Glasgow High Street

Glasgow High Street is located on the west side of High Street near to Glasgow Cathedral.

It measures particulates and ozone.

Glasgow Kerbside

Glasgow Kerbside is part of the Automatic Urban and Rural Network (AURN) and is operated on behalf of DEFRA by Glasgow City Council

It is located in Hope Street adjacent to Glasgow Central Railway Station and monitors nitrogen dioxide

Glasgow Nithsdale Road

Glasgow Nithsdale Road is located at the junction of Nithsdale Road and Pollokshaws Road.

It measures particulates

Glasgow Townhead

Glasgow Centre Air Quality Monitoring Station is part of the Automatic Urban and Rural Network (AURN) and is operated on behalf of DEFRA by Glasgow City Council.

It is located in Kennedy Path and monitors  particulates, ozone and polyaromatic  hydrocarbons.
