Gambling and Lottery Licenses

The Licensing Board deals with premises applications for:

  • bingo halls
  • casinos
  • betting premises
  • adult gaming centres
  • family entertainment centres

and permits for:

  • unlicensed family entertainment centre gaming machine permits
  • prize gaming permits
  • licensed premises gaming machine permits
  • club gaming permits
  • club machine permits

How do I apply for a gambling licence?

The Gambling Act 2005 has now been implemented. During the transitional period (up to 31 August 2007) existing operators who wish to take advantage of grand-father rights and continuation rights must apply for conversion to a new premises licence between 21 May and no later than 30 July.

You can apply as an existing operator, a new operator or apply for a provisional statement. Please return your completed application form with the appropriate fee to our licensing section.

How much does a gambling licence cost?

The fee for this is £250.

How much does a permit cost?

The fee for a new application for grant is £300.

The fee for the conversion of an existing Section 34 Gaming Act 1968 permit is £100.

The fee for a change of name is £25.
