It is normal for children to transfer from primary to secondary education between the ages of 11 and a half and 12 and a half years of age.

How do I know which school my child will be attending?

Parents with children transferring from primary 7 to one of our secondary schools will receive information on transfer arrangements in the December prior to their child's entry to secondary school. This information will give procedures involved in the transfer, including which secondary school your child will transfer to.

Does my child have to transfer to the named secondary school?

No, the Education (Scotland) Act 1980, as amended, gives you the right as a parent to make a placing request for your child to attend a school of your choice.
