Report an Abandoned Bicycle/Caravan/Trailer

 

What happens to Abandoned Bicycles?

A notice will be served on items deemed to be abandoned and causing an obstruction or littering public space.

If the item remains unmoved 7 days after the notice is served and no owner comes forward, it will be uplifted by us and retained for a period of 28 days, after which it will be disposed of if not reclaimed.

What happens with Abandoned Caravans or Trailers?

If enforcement staff are satisfied that a caravan or trailer is abandoned, they will attach a notice to it indicating that it is intended to remove the caravan / trailer. Any owner of the vehicle has 24 hours to object to its removal. If the vehicle remains unclaimed it will be removed as soon as possible by a contractor who will dispose of the vehicle.

Various criteria require to be taken into consideration when considering if a caravan is abandoned, this includes whether;

  • It is significantly damaged, run down or unroadworthy, for example has flat tyres, missing wheels or broken windows or the structure/glass has been damaged by vandalism
  • It has unsecured doors
  • It has been partially or fully burnt out
  • It is stationary for a significant amount of time
  • A number plate is missing
