What is it?
Recording Changes of Forename(s) and Surname(s) in Scotland
Any person whose birth is registered in Scotland or who was legally adopted in Scotland may apply for a recorded change of name.

Update: 1 February - NRS change of name team continue to work through a high volume of applications and are processing these in date of receipt order. They are currently working on applications received in Autumn 2021. Please email them at namechange@nrscotland.gov.uk if your request requires priority due to exceptional circumstances.
