Report Litter in a Public Place

Important Information

Kerbside collections of purple bins for glass will begin again on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

Please present your purple bin for collection on the next date listed on your collections calendar for glass.

You can check your collections schedule here.

Following the recent industrial action there are still delays to household bin collections in places across the city.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience being experienced by those residents who continue to be affected by the impact of the recent strike.

We are working hard to deal with the remaining backlog of waste and we aim to have services back to normal in the coming days.

On-line forms for reporting a range of cleansing issues remain switched off at this time, but these reporting forms will be restored as we recover from the impact of the industrial action.

What is it?

Litter is waste items that have not been disposed of correctly, for example not put in a public bin.

Litter is unsightly and potentially dangerous. It creates unnecessary work for our teams who are responsible for litter clearance throughout the City.

We provide a 24 hour street cleansing and litter service, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

How do I report it?

You can report problems with litter bins in a public place using our website.

You can also use our MyGlasgow app. You can download our app from the App store and Google Play.

Is there a fine for dropping litter?

Yes. There is a £80 penalty for littering and we will issue fixed penalty notices to people who are caught.
