Planning Policy and Design Guidance

Contact Development Plan

What is it?

Planning Policy and Design Guidance documents will be found here as they are delivered along with Supplementary Guidance associated with the emerging City Development Plan.

The Council also produces non statutory supplementary planning guidance, which is not subject to approval by Scottish Ministers and is not part of the development plan.  It is nonetheless a 'material consideration' in decisions on planning applications.

Non statutory supplementary guidance includes both topic and spatial related matters.

Proposed Guidance

The Council is consulting on Large-Scale Co-Living Planning Guidance.  Co-living is a relatively new type of housing to Glasgow, with the potential to have a significant impact on housing choice, and involves personal living spaces combined with shared amenity and recreational spaces.

The consultation will gather insights that will contribute to the development of effective planning guidance for Co-Living proposals, ensuring that they meet the needs of occupants and developing a better understanding of how to deliver high quality design.  It sets out policy considerations, locational considerations and proposed standards for new, large-scale co-living proposals.

When adopted, the guidance will form a material consideration to be taken into account in assessing planning applications for this type of development.

Comments on the guidance can be made via the Council's Consultation Hub or, in writing, to:
