Only non-traffic sensitive streets of a residential nature will be considered as part of the scheme.

What can I not do?

  • No Fairground rides,
  • Staging, or
  • Bouncy Castles

Roads closed under the Street Play application must not be main roads with bus routes or roads with a lot of traffic.

Does it cost?

All associated council costs are provided free of charge such as the temporary traffic regulation order and road closure equipment to residents, local groups and community based organisations. To claim the cost of Public Liability Insurance you should email Christine Stewart at Glasgow Life.

Do I need to notify anyone?

Applicants are required to communicate with all the affected properties that are accessed on or accessed by the road you are looking to close.

Residents parking

You must not restrict local residents from parking on the road during the event. The Traffic Order will not prohibit parking.

Risk Assessment

The applicant must carry out a risk assessment before each road closure. Evidence of the risk assessment must be provided to us before the first event can proceed.

Glasgow City Council reserves the right to cancel Street Play application if the closures are not implemented in accordance with these requirements or the activities are not managed in a safe manner.
