Street Play

Apply for a road closure

What is it?

Street Play is a nationwide initiative run by Play Scotland and supported by the city council and Glasgow Life. It aims to bring communities closer together by providing local groups and residents to take back their street and enjoy a traffic free environment.

All associated council costs are provided free of charge such as the temporary traffic regulation order and road closure equipment to residents, local groups and community based organisations. To claim the cost of Public Liability Insurance you should email Christine Stewart at Glasgow Life.

This is available over 4 weekends in 2019.

The dates the free road closure apply to are:

  • 17-19 May 2019 (Application deadline date 1 May 2019)
  • 21-23 June 2019 (Application deadline date 1 June 2019)
  • 19-21 July 2019 (Application deadline date 1 July 2019)
  • 20-22 September 2019 (Application deadline date 1 September 2019)

You can apply for 1 weekend or all weekends, however a separate application form must be filled in for each weekend.
