The first Glasgow City Region City Deal project to be completed - Tontine hosted high quality and flexible workspaces for high-growth start-ups in the enabling technology, advanced design/manufacturing and creative economy sectors.
Based in Glasgow's Merchant City, the business accelerator nurtured and helped enterprises to scale-up; providing support for entrepreneurs to step back and work on their business rather than in it.
Tontine closed in July 2021 on conclusion of its 5-year project duration. You can find out more about this project and the outcomes it delivered below.
Companies that took up desk space at Tontine benefited from a highly focused Account Managed Service from a dedicated Business Adviser and wider support services tailored to their business needs as they increased in size or reach.
The environment and access to a like-minded community helped to foster networking opportunities whilst incubating the growth and impact of businesses through collaboration.
Tontine was delivered as part of the £1.13 billion Glasgow City Region City Deal - supported by the UK Cabinet Office's Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
Tontine concluded in July 2021, completing its 5-year project duration. It has supported and helped scale up over 50 start-ups, delivered an accelerator programme in conjunction with Strathclyde University, and helped to create 530 full time equivalent jobs.
Many businesses experienced significant growth during and after their occupancy at Tontine, notably:
