Festival 2018 closures and impacts

What is Festival 2018?

As part of the Glasgow 2018 European Championships, Glasgow will host Festival 2018; a world-class programme of arts and cultural activity. Further information on impacts around the Festival 2018 event has been posted to affected residents and businesses.

The Merchant City Festival will also take place from 2-12 August 2018.

Please note the following update to information regarding road closures relating to the George Square Festival 2018 event:

04.00 on Monday 13 August - 04.00 on Friday 17 August

George Square (east side) for its whole length / George Square (west side), reduced to one lane northbound.

GO LIVE! At the Green

Glasgow Green will be hosting GO LIVE! at The Green (GLATG) during the Glasgow 2018 European Championships. GLATG will be an innovative live experience bringing together, sport, fitness, health, arts, food and drink as never before.

GLATG is a non-ticketed event and will run from the 2 to 12 August and will be open to the public from 10am to 7pm each day, with the exception of Wednesday 5 August and Sunday 12 when it will be open to the public from 8am to 7pm.

Access will be restricted to the public during the fit-out and set-up periods, which will run from Monday 16 July to Monday 30 July.  Safe walkways will be made available in certain areas during this period to allow the public access to Glasgow Green.

The Children's Playpark will be accessible from Greendyke Street during the fit-out, set-up and take-down periods. During the event, the Children's Playpark will be accessible via the spectator entry points.  The two main spectator entry points are McLennan Arch (Saltmarket) and the East entrance adjacent to the Winter Gardens.
