Gordon Street and Argyle Street (Central Station)

Update: 16 September 2021

Following an independent review which recommended the retention of those Spaces for People measures that could realise long term sustainability and active travel benefits, the cycle lane on Argyle Street will be made permanent.  All other measures will be removed.

Measure(s):

  • Gordon Street will become one-way eastbound from Hope Street to Union Street. Cycles will contraflow westbound. This will mean 'no right turn' from Renfield Street, except cycles. Servicing zone in front of Taxi Rank and access will be permitted for Goods Vehicles via Hope Street Bus Gate. New additional servicing zone on Union Street.
  • Argyle Street will become one-way eastbound from Hope Street to Union Street. Cycles will contraflow westbound. This will mean 'no right turn' from Union Street except cycles. Servicing zone from south side lay-bys and access will be permitted for Goods Vehicles via Bus Gate at the junction of Hope Street.

NB: Relocation of the rail inter station bus service 398 will be at the new bus stop on the west side of Union Street.

Detail:

The temporary works will be in place from Sunday 21 June for a minimum period of 10 weeks.

The temporary works will be reviewed in line with the Scottish Government's Covid-19 Framework for Decision Making 'Scotland's Route Map through and out of the crisis'.
