Finnieston: Argyle Street (Regent Moray St to Breadalbane St)

UPDATE (SEPTEMBER 2021):

Following an independent review in September 2021 which recommended the retention of those Spaces for People measures that could realise long term sustainability and active travel benefits - temporary footway widening infrastructure across neighbourhoods will not be made permanent, and if not already removed at the undernoted location, will be taken away in the subsequent months.

Argyle Street (between Regent Moray Street and Breadalbane Street)

Measure(s):

Argyle Street:

  • The north side of the carriageway will be narrowed by 2 metres from the east kerbline of Gray Street, eastwards for an estimated distance of 18 metres. Approximately 14 metres of no waiting at any time restrictions in the form of double yellow lines will be installed immediately east of the footway widening works.
  • The north side of the carriageway will be narrowed by 2 metres immediately east of the above proposed double yellow lines, eastwards to a point 30 metres east of the east kerbline of Kelvingrove Street. Approximately 10 metres of no waiting at any time restrictions in the form of double yellow lines will be installed immediately east of the footway widening works.
  • The north side of carriageway will be narrowed by 2 metres immediately east of the above proposed double yellow lines, eastwards for a distance of 40 metres.
  • The north side of the carriageway will be narrowed by 2 metres from the west kerbline of Kent Street, westwards for 30 metres.
  • The south side of the carriageway will be narrowed by 2 metres from the east kerbline of Kelvinhaugh Street for a distance of 36 metres.
  • Approximately 12 metres of no waiting at any time restrictions in the form of double yellow lines will be installed immediately east of existing restrictions east of Corruna Street.
  • The south side of the carriageway will be narrowed by 2 metres immediately east of the above proposed double yellow lines, eastwards for a distance of 30 metres. Approximately 12 metres of no waiting at any time restrictions in the form of double yellow lines will be installed immediately east of the footway widening works.
  • The south side of the carriageway will be narrowed by 2 metres immediately east of the above proposed double yellow lines, eastwards for a distance of 48 metres.

Argyle Street:

  • The west side of the carriageway will be narrowed by 2 metres from the west kerbline of Regent Moray Street, westwards for an estimated distance of 22 metres.

Argyle Street:

  • The north side of the carriageway will be narrowed by 2 metres from the extended east kerbline of Claremont Street eastwards for a distance of 20 metres.

All parking bays to be suspended.

Finnieston

Purpose:

To allow the widening of the existing footways to enable physical distancing.

To allow queueing areas at local shops.

Detail:

The temporary works will be in place for a minimum period of 10 weeks.

The temporary works will be reviewed in line with the Scottish Government's Covid-19 Framework for Decision Making 'Scotland's Route Map through and out of the crisis'.
