City Centre: Howard Street

UPDATE (SEPTEMBER 2021):

Following an independent review in September 2021 which considered whether long-term sustainability and active travel benefits could be realised by retaining measures - all Spaces for People cycle lanes, including the one noted below will become permanent.

Project

Spaces for People: Howard Street Temporary Cycle Route

Ward:

Ward 10 Anderston/ City/ Yorkhill

Location (From / To)

Howard Street from Dunlop Street to Jamaica Street

Work Duration:

15 March 2021 - 28 March 2021

Measures:

Installation of a soft segregated contraflow cycle route, relining works.

Details:

To facilitate physical distancing and enable alternative travel / active travel options.

Infrastructure:Convert existing advisory contraflow cycle lane on Howard Street to mandatory and install soft segregation using Zicla Zebras. Proposal is to install a 200mm wide mandatory white line and place product directly at the line to maximise usable cycle lane width.
