Cuthbertson Nursery class consultation agreed

Published Thursday 19 August 2021

A consultation to relocate Cuthbertson Nursery class into a new, purpose-built facility in the grounds of Cuthbertson Primary school has been given cross party approval at the City Administration Committee.

The statutory consultation - required when a closure of a nursery class is proposed - follows an informal engagement carried out with families, the local community and stakeholders between December 2020 and February 2021 and will start on 30 August.

A public meeting will be held on 8 September at Cuthbertson Primary school and will observe the current COVID-19 restrictions, advice and guidance.

Councillor Chris Cunningham, City Convener for Education, Skills and Early Years said: "The consultation is the ideal opportunity for everyone to make their views known on the proposals.

"As part of the city's commitment to early learning and childcare we are building purpose-built, state of the art buildings that will benefit our children for many years to come.

"Our families are already experiencing the benefits of our 1140 hours expansion plans across the city and offering more places, flexibility and access to high quality facilities, learning and childcare."

Recommendations and a follow-up report will come back for elected members to ratify in the new year.
