Glasgow City Council

Resource and Recycling Summit 2022

The resource and recycling sector is moving into a significant period of policy change which will impact how local authorities provide waste and recycling collection services to domestic and commercial properties and how material streams are managed thereafter.

Glasgow City Council declared a climate emergency in May 2019 and it is within this context that the Council framed the Resource and Recycling Strategy (RRS) 2020-30 as we seek to reduce the carbon impact waste has on the environment and climate change.

The strategy is being implemented via an action plan covering one main vision statement and four key themes and is available on the Council website on the link above.

This event aimed to provide a brief update to stakeholders on national waste and recycling policies impacting the Council, the progress on implementation of the RRS and the challenges the city faces from an operational perspective.
