School closures due to industrial action - Thursday 24 November 2022

Published Wednesday 16 November 2022

Letters have been issued to Glasgow families to let them know that all primary, secondary and ASL schools will be closed on Thursday 24 November due to industrial action by teacher unions.

Douglas Hutchison, executive director of education has written to explain that the council has been left with no option due to the number of teachers who will be on strike.

Standalone nurseries will remain open but nursery classes will be closed.

The education director has apologised for the impact this will have on families and explains there is no provision for online learning in secondary schools as there is no way of knowing in advance which teachers will be in schools.

Schools will let their families know if this changes.

Families who are eligible for free school meals will be downloaded money to cover the strike day with details being released in the next few days.

The council communication channels will post any updates to keep families informed.
