Enforcement of the Glasgow LEZ will begin on 1 June 2023. All Public Hire Taxis must meet the LEZ emission standards by this date to continue operating or must be in receipt of a time-limited exemption. Please note that any exemption granted will be for a maximum of one year from date of LEZ enforcement and will expire on 31 May 2024.
Public Hire Taxi Operators may apply for an exemption under one of the following categories:
- The registered taxi does not have an accredited retrofit option available from the CVRAS scheme.
Evidence required: Completed exemption application with make and model of vehicle.
- The taxi operator does not meet the eligibility requirements for the LEZ Retrofit Fund.
Evidence required: Completed exemption application. Company information showing it does not qualify for the LEZ Retrofit Fund or evidence of VAT registration.
- An application to the LEZ Retrofit Fund has been rejected.
Evidence required: Completed exemption application. Email / letter from Energy Saving Trust.
- A grant award has been received but retrofit has not yet been completed.
Evidence required: Completed exemption application. Confirmation of grant award.
- A grant award has been received but rescinded following vehicle inspection.
Evidence required: Completed exemption application. Confirmation of vehicle inspection.
- An application or registration of interest to the LEZ Retrofit Fund has been made but not yet awarded.
Evidence required: Completed exemption application. Confirmation email from Energy Saving Trust.
- The maximum number of taxis have already been retrofitted under the terms of the scheme.
Evidence required: Completed exemption application. Confirmation email of previous grant award(s).
