About our charities

The Lord Provost Charity Fund

The Lord Provost Charity help people in crisis and desperate need in the City of Glasgow, with offering support and financial assistance to those in crisis.

The Children's Fund

This Fund is designed to assist disadvantaged children and young people under the age of 18 and attend a public school.  The objectives of the fund are as follows:

  • The prevention of relief of child poverty within the City of Glasgow;
  • The advancement of education for children within the City of Glasgow;
  • The advancement of citizenship and community development in relation to children (including the promotion of civic responsibility, volunteering, the voluntary sector or the effectiveness or efficiency of charities) within the City of Glasgow.

An example of an application to this fund would be to cover the cost of a residential school trip for a child who would otherwise not be able to go on due to their family not being able to afford this. This ensures that the child doesn't miss out on this opportunity and is able to participate with the rest of their class.

Lord Provost's Vulnerable Citizens

This fund is designed to assist vulnerable and socially isolated adults between the age of 18 and 66 years.  The objectives of the fund are as follows:

  • the prevention or relief of poverty within the City of Glasgow
  • the advancement of education
  • the advancement of citizenship and community development (including the promotion of civic responsibility, and volunteering
  • the relief of those living in Glasgow in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage

Examples of things that the fund has covered are things like white goods, furniture and clothing.

Lord Provost's Senior Citizens

This Fund is designed to assist vulnerable and socially isolated older people over the age of 66.  The objectives of the Lord Provost's Fund for Older People are as set out below:

  • the prevention or relief of poverty within the City of Glasgow
  • the advancement of citizenship and community development (including the promotion of civic responsibility and volunteering)
  • the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage

An example of an application to this fund would be a request to cover the cost of fire-retardant bed sheets, clothing, white goods and furniture.

The funds are administered by Social Work and Education Services on behalf of the Lord Provost of Glasgow, which ensures that the people who are most in need can be identified and supported.

The Beatson Cancer Charity

Beatson Cancer Care logo

Beatson Cancer Charity supports people affected by cancer, every step of the way. We make the journey easier by transforming the way cancer care is funded and delivered. We provide services, as well as funding specialists, research and education to invest in a better future for cancer patients and their families.

At Beatson Cancer Charity we believe that no-one should face cancer on their own. This has always been our aim and we will work hard to continue to support even more people and families in the years to come.
