Submission Documents: by Councillor James Dornan:- "Glasgow City Council congratulates all charities that have put so much effort into helping those people affected by the disastrous earthquake in Haiti. Glasgow has a well deserved reputation for being the Caring City and no organisation epitomises this better than the aptly named, Glasgow The Caring City Charity, founded by the Reverend Neil Galbraith. The Caring City Charity has been involved in helping those affected by disasters from Malawi to Pakistan from Sri Lanka to Haiti as well as being involved in charitable work here in Glasgow, most recently through its Cross Out Poverty Campaign. Whilst we must never forget the magnificent work done by other charities based within the City of Glasgow it is time for Glasgow City Council to give its own thanks and gratitude for the work that the Caring City has done both abroad and at home and congratulate all those volunteers who do so much to make the name of Glasgow one to be proud of throughout the world."
