"Council notes the Bank on Owen campaign, which seeks to commemorate the achievements of Robert Owen by having his picture on Scottish banknotes to coincide with the United Nations International Year of the Co-operative in 2012.
Council recognises the importance of the Co-operative sector, which is estimated to be worth over £3billion to the Scottish economy, notes the important role that the City of Glasgow has had in the development of the Co-operative movement and agrees to support the Bank of Owen campaign by writing to the major Scottish banks expressing our support for this campaign."
