Submission Documents: By Councillor Franny Scally:- "Football is Scotland's national game. Glasgow is home to some of Scotland's largest clubs and has bequeathed many footballing greats to the world. Council notes, however, that it is increasingly difficult for young people to access football and other sports. Factors such as restrictions on ball games in the street and on green spaces, the high cost of facilities hire and alternative forms of entertainment are all barriers to increased physical activity. Recognising the need to improve health outcomes through sporting opportunity, and noting that Glasgow will host the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Council resolves to investigate innovative ways of extending access to football facilities for young people."
