Submission Documents: By Councillor Soryia Siddique:- "Council welcomes the commitment of this administration to the promotion of science to the young people of Glasgow. For the third consecutive year, all primary and ASL pupils in the city are enjoying free access to the Glasgow Science Centre. Additionally, 2013 has seen secondary pupils benefit from the city's first Green Jobs Fair. A significant challenge remains, however, in overcoming the traditionally low participation of women in the science sectors. Council therefore resolves to work with key partners, including the Scottish Government, to develop a strategy which will: encourage more girls to opt for science subjects at school and subsequently in further and higher education; promote science-related careers for women across the city; and challenge existing assumptions on gender in relation to the sciences."
