Submission Documents: By Councillor David Turner:- "Council notes that the city has 757 'take away' shops, a rate of one establishment for every 783 Glaswegians, with a greater proportion located in more economically deprived areas of Glasgow. This, in turn, contributes to the poorer health and life expectancy of Glasgow's citizens. Council further notes that there are legitimate calls for 'street food' outlets in areas of high footfall, such as the city centre, to provide a healthy alternative to citizens and visitors. Council therefore resolves to convene a short-life working group, to report to Council before the summer recess, on all policy areas affecting take away and on-street food vendors, to find a healthier balance and more positive image for the city in the run up to the 2014 Commonwealth Games and beyond."
