Submission Documents: By Bailie Dr Nina Baker:- "Glasgow has established an international reputation for challenging violence against women. However this problem persists, notable in recent weeks in a number of serious sexual attacks which have taken place across the city. It is recognised that, despite progress made, there is still work to be done both at home and internationally. White Ribbon Scotland campaigns to challenge violence against women by engaging directly with men and boys to change behaviour, challenge attitudes and raise awareness of violence against women in all its forms. Council therefore re-affirms its support for the campaign and agrees to promote it and encourage elected members' and staff to take the White Ribbon pledge. Furthermore, Council agrees to work in partnership with White Ribbon Scotland and Glasgow Violence Against Women, to deliver a wider support network to secure the objectives of the campaign and to develop a strategic policy to reduce such violence. Council will work with its many international links and also commits to exploring how it can support citywide events which seek to raise awareness and tackle violence agianst women." Help Icon
