This is the list of documents available for the submission By Councillor John Letford:- "Council notes with alarm reports of more than 1,000 people drowning in the Mediterranean Sea whilst attempting to reach the European Union. This ongoing crisis is a matter for all EU Member States. The ending of the policy of "Mare Nostrum" has failed to stem the flow of people seeking to enter Europe. As a city with a proud history of supporting those in need and enjoying an enviable maritime tradition, Glasgow is well placed to lead calls for more effective measures to address the problems associated with migration across the Mediterranean. The EU, as a union of Member States, has a duty to work collectively to address this issue. Council therefore supports calls for a reprioritisation of the work of the EU's FRONTEX agency towards search and rescue functions and for full and continued funding of maritime search and rescue operations.".
