"Council recognises that cities are the principal engines of growth in the Scottish and UK economy; notes Independent forecasts which show that with additional devolved powers the UK's Core Cities alone could generate an extra £222 billion and 1.16 million jobs for the country by 2030; resolves to support the calls for greater devolution to cities, as set out in the Modern Charter for Local Freedom, and encourage Glasgow's citizens, businesses, city partners and civic Glasgow to sign the Modern Charter for Local Freedom; and re-affirms Council's commitment to the further empowerment of local communities."
