Submission Documents: By Councillor Frank McAveety:- "Council is deeply concerned about the impact the UK Government's further austerity cuts will have on the people of Glasgow; recognises the important steps Council has taken to mitigate the cuts so far; believes these cuts to be an unnecessary punitive attack on the poorest in our society; further recognises Council's commitment to protect the poorest and most vulnerable in our communities through a variety of measures; notes with concern that added to this, the Scottish Government has disproportionately cut this Council's share of Scotland's local government settlement from 13.91% for 2008-09 to 12.81% for 2015-16, equivalent to a loss of £109million in the current financial year; and resolves to continue to use every available power of this Council to mitigate the impact of the cuts on Glaswegians."
