This website is run by Glasgow City Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

• navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
• navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
• listen to most of the website using a screen reader

We've also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

• Some older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
• Some pages have a colour contrast that is not accessible
• Some pages will not work using screen readers

Disproportionate burden

Our current Content Management System (CMS) that we use to build and update our website is now out of life, and no longer supported by our supplier.  There would be a disproportioante burden for Glasgow City Council to fix outstanding accessibility issues on our existing platform.

We have now confirmed a supplier for our new CMS and completed the software installation.  We are now in the process of migrating content from our old website to the new one.

We hope to have our new accessible website available by September 2023.  These are indicative timescales and will be review and updated regularly.

Content that's not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs with information on how users can access our services, and forms published as Word documents. By April 2021 we plan to either fix these or replace them with accessible HTML pages.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they're not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix minutes of meetings prior to this date.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Live video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

What we're doing to improve accessibility

An accessibility roadmap will be available soon that shows how and when we plan to improve accessibility on this website.  See section Disproportionate burden above.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 01 May 2021. It was last reviewed on 04 July 2023 and will continue to be reviewed weekly, updating with out progress on developing a new website.

This website was last tested on 11 Feb 2022 by CGI using Monsido. 

Our 3rd party IT provider are CGI.  They have purchased the accessibility mointoring tool Monsido to aid accessibility testing.  Accessibility reports are generated using Monsido for review by GCC and CGI to identify issues.  This tool will be used going forwards with our new website.
