Children's Rights

The Children's Rights information leaflet is included in every school handbook. It provides information on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and promotes our aspirations in Glasgow for rights education. Our ambition is for all children and young people in Glasgow to know their rights and have the freedom in our establishments to enjoy these rights. To achieve this we need all adults to support children and young people in knowing their rights and working together to ensure these rights are protected.

In November 2019 the council published its revised anti-bullying strategy to coincide with the annual National anti-bullying week.

The  Revised Anti Bullying Strategy 2019 [2Mb] has been issued to Glasgow schools on peer to peer bullying and in response to advice from the Scottish Government and Education Scotland.

Bullying behaviour is never acceptable within Glasgow City Council's schools or early learning centres. All children and young people have an entitlement to work and play in a learning environment in which they feel valued, respected and safe and are free from all forms of abuse, bullying or discrimination.

Education Services' revised anti-bullying guidance is set within the context of our overarching policy on inclusion Every Child is Included and Supported. It has been produced in consultation with respectme, Scotland's Anti-Bullying Service and takes account of the wider legal framework underpinning equalities, inclusion and meeting learners' needs.
