What is it?

Recruiting and retaining staff to help your business grow and develop can often be a challenge.  Through the Glasgow Guarantee programme, our business advisers can help you recruit a young person or graduate and assist with paying part of the salary.  This commitment can help lay the foundations for growing and expanding your business.

Who is it for?

The Glasgow Guarantee is for small to medium sized businesses based within the Glasgow City boundary (paying Council Tax to Glasgow City Council) that are looking to recruit staff.

It can help with the costs of recruiting a young unemployed person under 20 years old to gain a job with training or a Modern Apprenticeship. It can also help you to recruit workless adults aged 20-29; 50 years plus; Armed Forces Veterans and unemployed graduates who have graduated within the previous 12 months.

What is the Eligibility Criteria?

To be eligible for support, your business must:

  • be based within Glasgow City Council boundary;
  • employ less than 250 people

Further, the job you offer must:

  • pay a minimum of £4 per hour for young people under 20 years old;
  • pay the current Glasgow living wage rate of £7.85 per hour for over 20 year olds;
  • pay a minimum wage of £16,000 (50% financial support available) for graduates;
  • be new and additional to your business;
  • be a minimum of 25 hours per week to a maximum of 40 hours per week

How do I apply?

Please visit Glasgow Guarantee to register your business and a business adviser will be in touch.
