Tha am Plana Gàidhlig a' cuimseachadh air cleachdadh, ionnsachadh agus adhartachadh na Gàidhlig a mheudachadh ann an seirbheisean a tha air an solarachadh le Comhairle Baile Ghlaschu agus a chompanaidhean aig astar. Tron ùghdarras air a bhuileachadh air Bòrd na Gàidhlig fo Earrann 2 de Achd na Gàidhlig (Alba) 2005, tha aig a' chomhairle mar bhuidheann poblach ri Plana Gàidhlig a dheisealachadh agus fhoillseachadh gach ceithir no còig blaidhna.

Thuirt Dòmhnall Mac a' Phì, Oifigear Leasachaidh na Gàidhlig: "Tha a' Chomhairle air ceumannan mòra a choileanadh ann an leasachadh agus àrdachadh inbhe is ìomhaigh na Gàidhlig anns a' bhaile. 'S e seo an ceathramh Plana Gàidhlig againn bho 2009 agus tha gach aon aca air seirbheisean Gàidhlig a neartachadh do mhunntir Ghlaschu. Is e ar n-àrd-amas, dèanamh cinnteach gum bi a' Ghàidhlig ro 2028, nas ruigsinnich, air a labhairt nas fharsainge, nas fhaicsinnich agus air a comharrachadh barrachd ann an Glaschu na baile-mòr sam bith eile air an t-saoghal. Tha an àireamh de dhaoine ag ionnsachadh agus a' cleachdadh a' chànain a' leantainn a' fàs, agus tha barrachd is barrachd dhaoine ag aithneachadh gu bheil cànan is cultar na Gàidhlig do gach neach. Gàidhlig dhutsa, Gàidhlig do na h-uile."

Lean e air adhart: "Mholainn do neach sam bith Ie ùidh ann an Gàidhlig cur ris a' cho-chomhairleachadh phoblach le bhith a' lìonadh na suirbhidh an seo. Thèid gabhail ris a h-uile beachd agus thèid geàrr-aithisg den ath-fhiosrachadh bhon cho-chomhairleachadh agus tionndadh deireannach den Phlana ullachadh do chomataidh de bhuill thaighte. An uair sin, bidh am Plana air a chur gu Bòrd na Gàidhlig airson aonta ro 24th Sultain."

Bidh àireamh de choinneamhan aghaidh-ri-aghaidh agus air-loidhne a' gabhail àite dhaibhsan a tha airson deasbad air a' Phlana le oifigearan na Comhairle. Thèid barrachd fiosrachaidh mu na coinneamhan sin fhoillseachadh an seo agus air sianalan mheadhanan sòisealta na comhairle.

PUBLIC CONSULTATION ON GLASGOW CITY COUNCIL'S GAELIC LANGUAGE PLAN BEGINS

Glasgow City Council's Gaelic Language Plan for 2023 to 2028 has been published and anyone with an interest in Gaelic language and culture in Glasgow is invited to send feedback and comment over the next three months.

The Gaelic Plan focuses on increasing the use, learning and promotion of Gaelic in services provided by Glasgow City Council and its arms length companies. Through the authority given to Bòrd na Gàidhlig under Section 2 of the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005, the council is required as a public body to prepare and publish a Gaelic Language Plan every four to five years.

Gaelic Development Officer, Donald MacPhee, said: "The Council has made huge strides in developing and enhancing the status and profile of Gaelic within the city. This is our fourth Gaelic Language Plan since 2009 and each one has strengthened Gaelic services for the people of Glasgow. Our ambition is to ensure that by 2028, Gaelic will be more accessible, more widely spoken, more visible and more celebrated in Glasgow than in any other city in the world. The number of people learning and using the language continues to grow and more and more people are recognising that Gaelic language and culture is for each and everyone. Gaelic for you, Gaelic for all."

He continued: "I would encourage anyone with an interest in Gaelic to contribute to the public consultation by completing the survey, which you can access here. All views will be taken on board and a summary report of feedback from the consultation and a final version of the Plan will be prepared for a committee of elected members. Then the final Plan will be presented by 24th September to Bòrd na Gàidhlig for approval."

There will be a number of face to face and online meetings for those who wish to discuss the Plan with council officers. Further details of those meetings will be published here and, on the council's, social media channels.

The Plan (Gaelic and English versions) can be viewed and downloaded below.

The consultation will be live until Friday 22nd July 2022.

If you require any additional information on the survey or would like this document in an alternative format or community languages, please contact:
