January 2023 school strikes update to families
Updated information on further potential strike action by teacher unions in January has been sent to parents and carers by the executive director of education, Douglas Hutchison ahead of the school holidays.
The letter, which says that if things remain the same over the next few weeks, it is likely for schools to be closed to pupils on the days that have been earmarked by teacher unions for industrial action.
The potential strike days which will have an impact on Glasgow schools are as follows:
Tuesday 10 January 2023: All Primary schools, including ASL primary schools
Wednesday 11 January 2023: All secondary schools, including ASL secondary schools
Monday 16 January 2023 - Primary and Secondary schools, including ASL schools.
The intention is for our standalone nurseries and nursery classes to remain open.
The update was to give families plenty of time to make alternative arrangements and to apologise for what will be a challenging time for families.
Further information will be communicated in the New Year and closer to the strike days.
