School strike updates

Published Tuesday 21 February 2023

Primary, secondary and ASL schools will be closed to all pupils on 28 February and 1 March due to industrial action.

Glasgow families have been given an update on the ongoing industrial action being taken by teacher unions over pay dispute.

Douglas Hutchison, executive director of education has written to parents and carers to inform them that all primary, secondary and ASL schools will be closed next week on Tuesday 28 February and 1 March due to further industrial action.

The intention is for all our standalone nurseries and nursery classes to be open as normal.

The letter will be issued by schools to their families to give them as much notice as possible to make alternative arrangements for the two days of action.

Douglas Hutchison, executive director of education said: "I understand that this continues to cause disruption to families and that parents and carers are concerned about the impact on their children.

"Our hope is that a satisfactory resolution can be found as the national talks continue between the unions, the Scottish Government and COSLA."

The industrial action next week is in addition to the targeted strikes affecting the City's southside constituency.  This will take place on the following days:

Wednesday 22 February
Thursday 23 February
Friday 24 February
Tuesday 7 March
Wednesday 8 March
Thursday 9 March

Schools in this area are communicating directly with their families on any local arrangements.
